Sweetwater-Lake
is 380-acre reservoir located in Brown County in south-central Indiana. It's approximately one hour south of the city of Indianapolis. Sweetwater Lake is known as one of the clearest lakes in Indiana with a 27-foot visibility. There's a wide variety of recreational activities at the lake, including fishing, boating and ice-fishing in the wintertime. Surrounding the lake are the beautiful rolling hills of Brown County State Park, which contains over 70 miles of bridle trails and over 12 miles of hiking trails. Other activities at Sweetwater Lake include picnicking, camping, biking, golf and horseback riding. Sweetwater Lake is near the town of Nashville, Indiana, known as the center of the Brown County Art Colony, which offers a variety of galleries and specialty shops. Southern Indiana offers a 40-mile stretch of scenic highway along State Road 46, known as the Twisted Trail, that connects the towns of Columbus, Nashville and Bloomington. All along the way you'll find art galleries, museums, wineries, picturesque farms and twisting, winding roads. The Sweetwater Lake area is also full of historic sites, including the Bean Blossom Covered Bridge (c. 1880 ) and the Ramp Creek Covered Bridge, which is the only double barreled covered bridge in Indiana and crosses Salt Creek at the north entrance of the Brown County State Park.

Central Indiana has a four-season climate, with cold winters and warm, humid summers. It is classified as humid continental. Temperatures generally diverge somewhat from the north and south by a few degrees. While droughts occasionally occur in the southern region, rainfall totals are usually equally distributed throughout the state. The annual snowfall in Indiana averages less than 22 inches. Indiana is one of the most tornado-prone states in the country. Despite its vulnerability, however, Indiana is not a part of tornado alley.
