North-Webster
is a small town located in Kosciusko county in northern Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the population was 1,067 residents. The town is situated in Indiana's beautiful lakes region. Lake Webster, which is a very popular fishing and boating lake, is situated inside the town of North Webster. Besides the lake itself, one of the main attractions is The Dixie, Indiana's oldest stern wheel paddle boat. The Dixie has cruised Webster Lake since 1929, providing tours of the lake to generations of visitors. Tours are available for regular summer cruises from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The boat is also chartered for events such as weddings, retirement home outings, and company and community gatherings. Many of the cruises feature period music and a narration with some of the history of the area, the lake and the Dixie. The North Webster Lions Club hosts the annual Mermaid Festival, which takes place in June in the city. The primary attractions of the festival are the Cutie King & Queen Pageant, the Cutie parade, and the Mermaid Parade. The Mermaid Festival also includes a carnival and fireworks.

Northwest Indiana has a four-season climate typical of most of the Midwest, with a few exceptions due to its proximity to Lake Michigan. Cold air passing over the warmer lake water induces precipitation in the lee of Lake Michigan in autumn and winter. As a result of this phenomena, heavy winter precipitation, especially snowfall, can extend eastward from Gary inland to as far as Elkhart. Lake-related snowfall and cloudiness can extend to central Indiana in winter, driven by strong northwesterly winds. In the spring, daily maximum temperatures decrease northward in northern Indiana because of the cooling effect of the Lake. Average daily minimum temperatures in autumn are higher in northwestern Indiana near the warmer lake surface than farther south.
